Savage?

There are many loveable characters as well as  unlovable characters in Game of Thrones, one of my personal favorite characters is Khal Drogo. Khal Drogo is the warlord of the Dothraki the famed nomadic horse-lords of the eastern continent beyond Narrow Sea. The Dothraki are known for their fierce warriors, their skills when it comes to battles and finally also the fact that they are savages to those who are not Dothraki. The last point is very important to the point I will be trying to make when it comes to Khal Drogo the warlord of the Dothraki.
Khal Drogo is can show his power by the length of their hair which is custom to be cut of if you fail, but in Drogo’s case he has not failed since his hair is very long and has not been cut. Drogo as well as the Dothraki are picture as a very savage people, this is drawn by stating that they are nomadic, they have darker skin and finally the simple notion of not having the words thank you in their language. As Young claims in her Founding Fantasy chapter in Tolkien writing there is a representation of acceptable divide between humankind's when it comes to their race and physical characteristics and mental abilities.
This in my opinion reflects a lot of what the Europeans thought of the Natives when they first discovered America. This reflects the truth of what people did in real life, this is not a concept of fantasy it's incorporate yes, but it's definitely not fantasy. This is very uncomfortable and scary because the truth always shows you what may times you don’t want to realize. This comes back to Khal Drogo, his death consisted on a small wound that later worsened for other reasons but in all of that I don’t believe that should have been the reason for his death.
He was a strong man who was skilled in battle, having his long braid as proof that he was the best in what he did. This however seems that it doesn't make much of a difference for the soul purpose of being a “savage”. Another reason for having darker skin as well as picture as a very intelligent people who anything but fighting. Drogo shows us that is not the case as he learns to love Danny and he creates that same feeling in Danny toward him. He was a strong man who because of his skin color and culture should have not died so early in the book and died in that way as well.
The white race is put at the top of the hierarchy of humanity, putting those who are not white at the bottom. This is a problem in both Game of Thrones and it was at one pint in our history which takes part of our history and what many became to be.  Khal Drogo and the Dothraki in general are all not from the white race which puts them at the bottom but just like Drogo teaches us a savage can have many skills that are useful and respected and more importantly a savage is capable of loving someone and being loved by another.
