Marriage Proposals for the Stark Children if the War of Five Kings Didn't Happen
by Elizabeth Munns
In class on Tuesday we discussed the most beneficial marriage proposal for Joffery, and in this blog, I would like to discuss the most beneficial marriages for the Stark children, these being all six 'true-born' children of Ned Stark.

First off, Robb. Robb Stark will be the warden of the North, unfortunately, he doesn't look like a Northman and no children have been fostered in Winterfell. This means that no Nothern lords know anything about him other than the fact that he is Ned Stark's son and that his mother was a southerner. A southerner who raised him in the Light of the Seven, a faith that very few houses, like the Manderly's, follow in the North and that most northerners don't respect. Because of this Robb has to marry a lady of the North, who is well-liked and respected among his future bannerman in order to cement his place as Warden of the North. The women available for marriage are from Houses Karstark, Umber, Manderly, Mormont and Tallhart. Both the Umbers and Mormont are known for their loyalty to the Starks at this point and thus would be a bad match as this match would be to gain loyalty. The Manderlys would also be a bad match due to their ties to the Seven. House Tallhart is only a Masterly house while house Karstark is a Noble house and thusly Robb should marry Alys Karstark.

Arya should marry a house that will appreciate her Wolfsblood, making her only true options Houses in the North or Dorne. Unfortunately, the only option from Dorne is Edric Dayne which would be unlikely given the rumors that Ashara Dayne was Jon Snow's mother. This means Arya will likely stay in the North married to one of the younger sons of a lord there or to someone older than her. Most likely she'll be married to a retainer of House Stark to keep her near Winterfell or to an Umber of Mormont who can handle her willfulness.
Bran, whether he has been crippled or not, will likely be given to Meera Reed, as I can't quite imagine her or Jojen allowing anything else.
This then leaves Rickon who I can't accurately predict as he is too young, though it is likely that either he or Bran will be given a restored Moat Cailin or another keep, possibly the Dreadfort if Roose doesn't remarry or legitimize Ramsay, Barrow Hall, as House Dustin is dying out, a castle from the Flint family, as Ned's mother was a Flint, or an original keep.
